Sam is currently studying a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) at the Australian National University in Canberra. Drawing on intellectual influences such as Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell and Ruchir Sharma, Sam has a keen interest in limited and efficient government, personal and market freedom and free trade. As a believer in the competition of ideas, he hopes to encourage more debate surrounding public policy on campus.
Sagnayo is a third-year student pursuing degrees in Political Science and International Relations. Passionate about free markets, limited government, and maximum freedom, Sagnayo draws motivation from Ronald Reagan’s famous words: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help”.
Ruby is an undergraduate student at the Australian National University studying a double degree in International Relations and Arts. She developed the Phoenix Society’s brand and digital media strategy, shaping its online presence and core marketing channels. Passionate about design, meaningful communication, and community building, Ruby manages content, campaigns, and branding to support engagement and membership growth for both students, and broader community members.
Will is a second year international relations student, with a keen interest in politics, government, and diplomacy. Will has served in many roles on campus and beyond, including as a general representative on the ANU SRC, as the treasurer of CAPSS, and as the youngest candidate to contest the 2025 federal election. An advocate for free markets and civil liberties, Will has been inspired by the work of Robert Menzies, the father of modern Australian liberalism, and hopes to share these values with young Australians.
Nevan has a strong interest in individual liberty, free markets, and limited government. He has worked with the Advocata Institute and the Bastiat Society of Sri Lanka, and believes economic freedom is a practical tool for empowering communities and expanding opportunity. Outside of policy, he is an experienced debater and coach, and is committed to open dialogue and reasoned discourse. For Nevan, classical liberalism is a guiding philosophy rooted in human dignity and voluntary cooperation.
