Welcome to Events!

The Phoenix Society hosts a variety of events throughout the year designed to engage members and the wider university community.

These include guest lectures, panel discussions, debates, workshops, and social gatherings—all centred around the exploration of classical liberal ideas and contemporary issues.

Our events offer opportunities to hear from experts, participate in meaningful conversations, and connect with others who share an interest in individual liberty, free thought, and open dialogue. Check this page regularly for upcoming events and ways to get involved.

Movie Nights

We will be showing movies that explore issues of freedom and liberty in an entertaining and enjoyable way. Come along and you’ll get free pizza and soda!

2. Seminars

We will host a series of seminars led by experts in business and academia relating to topics of philosophy, politics and public policy. A great networking opportunity!

3. Debate Nights

Covering topics such as housing affordability, energy policy and the role of Governments, we will be hosting debates with external groups and other societies. Join us for a night of enthralling conversation!

4. Journalism Workshops

Do you want the opportunity to hone your communication skills? We will be hosting workshops focussing on writing, interviewing, editing, and publishing so you’ll be prepared to enter the workforce!

5. Inter-Society Mixers

Aside from all the many academic events we have, we will also be collaborating with other societies to host pub nights, social mixers and other inter-society events!
